From Pangong Tso to the Hemis monastery — the places that make a Ladakh trip unforgettable.
Ladakh rewards travellers who slow down. The altitude asks for patience, and the landscape repays it with colours you will not find anywhere else in India.
Start with Leh itself — Shanti Stupa at sunset, the old town bazaar and the Hall of Fame museum are the gentlest way to spend your acclimatisation days.
Then move outward: Nubra's dunes and double-humped camels, Pangong's shifting blues, Tso Moriri's silence, and the monasteries of Thiksey, Diskit and Hemis.
Best time to visit is May to September. Carry layers, drink three litres of water a day, and never plan a high pass on your arrival day.
